A Short Introduction about the Author

Hi and thanks for stopping by. My name is Jim Banning, and I'm a student at the University of Houston.

A Brief History
I'm currently studying for a degree in Computer Information Systems. This degree is one of many offered in the College of Technology . I was born in Houston, and graduated from Lamar High School in 1999. I then attended the University of Texas, where I majored in History. After graduation, I joined the United States Navy. I left the Navy in May, and started classes at University of Houston.
My plan is to pursue a Master's Degree in Information Systems Security once my undergraduate degree is complete.

When I was in the Navy, we made quite a few port calls, so I got to see a number of foreign places. Here is a quick list of places I've been to (in no particular order):

  1. Spain
  2. Poland
  3. Germany
  4. Norway
  5. Italy
  6. Malta
  7. Seychelles
  8. Oman
  9. Bahrain
  10. Guam
  11. Japan
  12. Singapore
  13. South Korea

What is this page?

This page is an example of what you can create using only a text editor. I designed this webpage using only Notepad. To compare, here is a webpage I created using Microsoft Word. Link

By using html tags like <style>,<p>,<ul>, etc , I can make a webpage without the need for a fancy (and expensive) program.
To assist with the layout, I also incorporated a technique called a Cascading Style Sheet(CSS) to help format the page.

So what can you do with HTML tags?

Quite a lot. Here's a short list of things I can do by using HTML tags
